It really irks me that teaching is a 'back up plan' for many people. They get to their junior year and don't know what they want to do so they decide 'Hey, maybe I'll teach.'\ I get summers off and work 8-3 everyday. How hard could it be?'
Rarr. You are preparing the future of this country. If you are not balls to the wall passionate about it don't set foot in a classroom.
I hope to God none of you ever teach my kids.

does that apply to college teaching too?
Because I WANT to teach mythology...actually, want is too small of a word. If it was only want I wouldn't be going through the hell that is grad school.
so is that balls to the wall passionate? If so, man, that wall has to be feelin' might disgusted right now.

Teaching would never be a "back up plan" for me. I have no intention of going into teaching until and unless I discover that it's a career I can't stand not being involved in. But until I KNOW where my true passion lies, I'm going to investigate any and all possibilities.
